About the Organization

Safecity is a platform that crowdsources personal stories of sexual harassment and abuse in public spaces. These stories, which may be submitted anonymously, are aggregated to highlight local “hot spots” and trends. The goal is to help individuals, communities, and authorities identify root causes of violence and create actionable solutions. Since its launch on December 26, 2012, Safecity has gathered nearly 9,000 stories from over 50 cities across India, Nepal, Kenya, and Cameroon. The initiative aims to make cities safer and promote equal access to public spaces, especially for women, through data and technology.

Internship Responsibilities

As a Social Media Marketing Intern, you will:

• Manage one of Safecity’s social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Worldpulse)

• Strategize and manage collaborations for events

• Participate in and coordinate at least 6 tweetchats and 6 webinars/sessions over 3 months

• Create, plan, and manage content for weekly campaigns

• Handle Instagram takeovers

• Support the team in amplifying Safecity’s app visibility

Required Skills

Eligibility Criteria

• Available to start between 19th August 2020 and 9th September 2020

• Can commit to the full 3-month duration

• Have relevant skills and a genuine interest in the role

• Available for part-time, work-from-home internship
