Job Overview

The Senior Manager will lead a talented development team responsible for designing and creating mission-critical applications for the Technical Operations (TechOps) business unit. Collaboration with business teams will be a key focus to ensure that the applications meet evolving business needs. This role requires strong software development expertise and familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

Product Delivery and Support

• Deliver large-scale programs and continuous improvement initiatives across web and backend channels.
• Collaborate with engineers, cross-functional digital technology teams, and business users to design, develop, and integrate UIs and services to address business needs.
• Mentor and guide junior and senior team members while contributing to teamwork by completing project tasks on time.
• Work with IT teams (network, security, end-user services) to ensure adherence to IT standards, security, and enterprise architecture.
• Provide leadership, motivation, and mentoring to team members, ensuring alignment with United Airlines' standards for security, platforms, and performance.
• Assist with production issue analysis, remediation plans, and root cause resolution.

Team Leadership

• Build and maintain relationships with colleagues to collaboratively deliver value-added services and solutions.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the team and support groups to meet business and technical requirements.
• Report key performance indicators and project updates to senior management.
• Oversee team members and partner with business units to execute the application roadmap.
• Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and training plans for team members.
• Ensure HR administration, time reporting, and other management tasks are handled effectively for a team of 10+ IT professionals.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration.
• 12+ years of IT experience in the business/industry field.
• 5+ years of experience in web or backend development.
• 7+ years of leadership experience managing large, diverse, cross-functional teams or projects and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Advanced technical and business knowledge of:
  • Software development life cycle
  • Quality assurance
  • Project management processes
• Minimum of 1 year of Agile development experience.
• Strong and consistent attendance is an essential qualification for this role.
• Must be legally authorized to work in India without sponsorship.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Experience in the airline industry is a plus.
